Mysuru: Allegedly under pressure from her neighbor to sell her house at Tattekere village in Hunsur taluk, a 45-year-old widow has appealed to the district administration for mercy killing on Wednesday.
Shailaja, 45, on Wednesday met additional deputy commissioner T Yogesh, along with her son, and explained her ordeal to him.

Shailaja said that she lived in a house her father-in-law had given at Tattekere. However, her brother-in-law Nagraj had sold a house that was contiguous to hers to a nurse working with a private hospital in Mysuru. “The nurse subsequently demolished the house to construct a new one in its place, in the course of which the walls of my house were damaged,” said Shailaja. When Shailaja questioned the nurse over the damage done to the walls, the latter responded indifferently. When a disappointed Shailaja approached Hunsur police to report the problem nine months ago, that failed to yield desired results as well.

“I was attacked after I filed the complaint,” Shailaja said, adding that her neighbours had rescued her. “The nurse and her relatives are threatening to kill me. I have filed a complaint. But, no action was taken. So, I have been left with no option but to demand mercy killing from the DC,” she added.
Shailaja appealed for a quick solution to the problem. “If the problem is not resolved in 15 days. I should either be given permission for mercy killing or I will drink poison and commit suicide in front of the DC’s office,” she said.
ADC Yogesh assured Shailaja that the problem would be resolved. “I will immediately inform the additional superintendent of police to provide security for Shailaja,” he said.
