MYSURU: A top education officer and his official driver were caught red-handed by sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau in Mysuru on Monday.
Jayaprakash, deputy director of pre-university education, Mysuru, and driver Manjunath were caught accepting Rs 25,000 from Shakunthala, an administrative officer attached to Vijaya Chethana Pre-University College, Kuvempunagar.

Shakuntala had lodged a complaint with ACB that the officer was demanding Rs 2.5 lakh to renew the college’s annual licence.
Kalakrishnaswamy, superintendent of police with the ACB, said they set up a trap when the official reached the college to receive bribe money from the complainant on the college premises. A team of officials led by deputy superintendent of police Gajendra Prasad caught the duo on the campus around noon.
