Security up in Hunsur for Eid Milad, Hanuman Jayanti

 Mysuru: The police and the district administration have set up a tight security ring around the communally-sensitive Hunsur town ahead of Eid Milad and Hanuman Jayanti celebrations to be held on December 2 and 3 respectively.

Barring the procession routes ban orders have been imposed in the town. Traffic diversion have been put in place and sale of liquor has been restricted on the both the days. As many as 10 anti-social elements are expected to be banished from the town. Police are keeping a watch on another twenty trouble mongers ahead of the celebrations.

SP Ravi Channannavar has warned miscreants of action in case they try to create tension at the town either through inflammatory speeches, inciting remarks or by any action. As a precaution, four officers have been nominated as sector magistrates to handle any situation and take on the spot decisions in case of an emergency.

Processions will be taken out by the different community members on the both the days, for which routes have been identified. The authorities have held meetings with community leaders, elected representatives and local leaders to ensure an incident-free celebration.

No Permit For Additional Route

Organizers of Hanuman Jayanti had sought an additional procession route via Ranganatha Badavane but police have declined it and asked them to obtain permission from the district administration. As many as 5,000 people are expected to participate in the procession and public function on the Hanuman Jayanti.
