Science camp from tomorrow
Mysuru: Buoyed by the response that it got for its first Science Summer Camp (SSC), the city-based Science Ashram, an organization promoting science education among students, will conduct the second edition of SSC from May 11.
The participants will be encouraged to explore science through activities and projects. They will also be taken to various central and state agencies like DFRL, CFTRI, KSIC, KSDL and KMF and industries/ firms like Nestle and Rangarao and Sons, incense stick manufacturer, so they get on-field experience.
At the unique three-week camp, class 4-9 students are given lessons in science for free. In the first batch, 150 students will be taught, said Ashram convener Viveka Rajashekar.
Following activities have been lined up for the camp: Tangram — understanding geometry in a fun way, Decode your genes — introduction to genetics, introducing planetarium, origami and fun with physics. They will all be complemented with experiments to make students understand science. Educative talks from scientists, stargazing sessions, and field trips showcasing science, technology, engineering and mathematics are also part the camp.
