MYSURU: Road works in Nanjangud will be taken up in July at a cost of Rs 10 crore.

Mysuru district minister H C Mahadevappa made the announcement during a visit to the temple town on Thursday. Mahadevappa, who is also in charge of public works portfolio, visited Parashuram Temple and Srikantheshwara Temple to get details about the works undertaken there.

Later, he visited Srirampura Shankarapura Layout and discussed building houses to the needy people. About 29acre land will be bought from people to build the houses, which will be distributed to the poor under Rajeev Gandhi Housing Corporation Scheme, he said.
Speaking to mediapersons, he said that the government is ready to build a park and shelters in the temple premises for the benefit of devotees. “The works will be completed as per schedule. We will evict street vendors for road widening. Roads surrounding the temple will be concretized,” he said, adding: “Chief minister Siddaramaiah and myself have contributed a lot for the development of Nanjangud taluk. The taluk MLA should strive for more development.”
