MYSURU: The national executive committee of the Indian National Trade Union Congress has resolved to support the move to elevate Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi as the president of Congress.
The INTUC said that it will help the party to elevate the party’s vice- president ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in May 2019. It said Rahul’s elevation will help galvanize the party cadres leading to better performance.

The two days’ meet of the executive committee, which concluded on Sunday, resolved to support the Congress’ move to make Rahul the party chief. INTUC president G Sanjeeva Reddy told reporters that it endorsed the view among the senior leaders in the party that Rahul should take over the mantle.
The INTUC was critical of the Union labour and employment minister Bandaru Dattatreya for not addressing the workers concerns and sought his resignation. It stated that he has failed to protect the interests of the labour force in the country and should be dropped from the cabinet by PM Narendra Modi.

Reddy said the BJP-led NDA government is trying to weaken the INTUC and said that they will fight it and said they will also take up the issue of privatization of public sector units (PSUs) across the nation. He was critical of the move to privatize Beml and said it will extend support to the Beml Employees Association to stop it.
