MYSURU: Narasimharaja police have booked a youth of AJ Block on charges of maiming a pet dog belonging to fellow resident Arokia Mary. Two days after the youth identified as Zullu (22) wounded a decade-old pet dog Jimmy with sharp weapon, Mary had lodged police complaint against him and his unidentified associate. Police have taken up a case under provisions of IPC against the youths.
Explaining the incident, Mary told TOI that her dog intercepted the youth while he was passing in a bike right in front of her house on evening of Sunday. Immediately he stopped and threw a stone at the dog before I intervened. Later he left the spot only to return with a knife and a friend. By then I had tied my dog upstairs. He then mercilessly attacked the dog with knife injuring it badly, she claimed.

“My son had bought it about ten years back and since then the black bitch is one among the family members. After my son’s death six years ago Jimmy is only companion of mine as both the daughter are married and living separately.” “I only pray for her speedy recovery as it had stopped taking adequate food,” grieves Mary who does menial jobs at marriage halls to make a living.

NR Police inspector Ashok said the complaint was registered late on Tuesday and search is on for them who have absconded. Zullu and his friend have been booked for maiming the dog and trespass. They can be punished with imprisonment which may extend up to five years for charges of maiming dog under IPC Section 429 while it is one year simple imprisonment for trespass under Section 448.
