Madiwalas ask ex-MP to keep off their protest
Mysuru: Former MP Adagooru H Vishwanath on Monday had to face embarrassment as a section of Madiwala community asked him to stay away from the dharna they were holding to seek Schedule Caste status.
Seeking the government to set up a separate corporation for the welfare of Madiwalas, Mysore District Madiwala Association held a rally in the city and later staged a protest in front of the DC’s office. They also urged the government to consider them as SC based on the recommendations of Annapoornamma Committee report.
While the dharna was on, the former MP arrived at the spot to join them. A section of the protesters requested him not to join them as it could lead to politization of the issue, and the same could send a wrong message. The JD(S) leader obliged them and moved to a corner, and left the place after sometime.
Meanwhile, urging the state government to include Kshatriya Maratha’s under 2’A’ category, the members of Maratha Samaj Karnataka, Maratha Kranti Morcha and the Ek Marath Lakh Marath took out a rally from the Balarama Gate of Mysuru Palace and submitted a petition to the DC. “The government has included Kshatriya Marathas and Marathas under category 3A. We need to be included under category 2A,” they said.
