MYSURU: Nearly a month after a married woman eloped with her lover, the couple committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train near Maddur in Mandya district on Sunday.
Sunil, 28, and Manjula, 25, mother of a girl child, have left behind a suicide note, informing that no one is responsible for their death. The couple said that they are ending lives because they were finding it difficult to lead a normal life after separating from their families. The lovers, who are said to have married each other in Bengaluru, where they lived after leaving their houses, have appealed to their relatives to bury them together. Sunil has requested his relatives to handover his motorbike to his brother.
Initially, their families were reluctant to receive the bodies. But after village elders intervened, they took the bodies for funeral early on Monday. Police said Sunil was identified late on Sunday, while Manjula’s identity was established after contacting her relatives on Monday.
