Cops avert girl’s wedding 2 days prior to turning 18
MYSURU: Udayagiri policeaverted a child marriage at Shanthinagar and took an undertaking from the parents.
Though the girl will turn 18 in another two days, her parents were in a hurry to get her married to a 23-yera-old man. Acting on a tip-off, child helpline officials, along with Udayagiri police rushed to the marriage hall and stopped the marriage.
The police took an undertaking from parents of the bride and the bridegroom promising to wait for for another two days to marry them.
The issue was also brought to the notice of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) who will take a decision on the matter.
